My Girls Bedroom Makeover

As an owner of an old home I LOVE the ability to make it our own. Put our own stamp on it. It is constant and sometimes, all the time, it feels like we will never get it finished!

On holidays in a Winnebago, 12 nights, 6 people, can NOT breathe, situation, we noticed that our daughter who normally is a light sleeper waking at least twice a night, was sleeping through. As a result she coped better day to day and was just happier, and who can blame her, lack of sleep SUCKS!

So when we arrived home we pulled her aside and asked her to talk to us about her feelings, her sleep habits, and we were both shocked to learn that she was scared in her room and felt very separated from the family.

With the consent of her big brother, nothing fazes him, she wanted to swap rooms.

Cue MAKEOVER TIME!!!!!

Fresh paint a the removal of the ickie carpet was a MUST before she moved over.

Our entire house is painted Princess Bling, a light and fresh white, but I wanted her room to be a touch warmer and more calming, ready for those crazy teen years ;-). I chose to use Fusion Mineral Paint in Lamp White, a fresh white, with a silver/grey undertone.

2 coats of paint and we were ready to remove the carpet. It is so horrible and I was not sad to see it go to the dump! HAPPY DANCE the floors underneath are in great condition, no gaps or glue and just needed a good clean and a stain.

I am so happy with how the room has turned out, and if it means my girl will sleep better then it is an easy makeover really!
